How to Read an E-Book with Your Child

The times today have changed. We live in a post-pandemic world where most kids have become habituated to staying indoors. Sure, they can go out at times, but one can never tell when the next lockdown will occur. Moreover, safety will always be a concern. Living indoors limits the opportunities to enjoy certain activities. However, the good news is that they can read wherever and whenever they want to. Reading is one activity that they can enjoy irrespective of external circumstances. Moreover, when you enroll them in a kindergarten in Ajman they will already have much better reading skills than their peers.

Just like most things and activities around the globe, reading has undergone certain changes as well. Gone are the days when you’d have to walk to the library and borrow a book. Today, an increasing number of readers are drifting towards eBooks. Its compact, easily accessible, and limitless nature has turned it into a favorite. You might want to spend time reading with your kids, but it is important to remember that they are new-age individuals. They may not be as enticed by an actual book as they would be by an eBook. Here are some things you can do to read an eBook with your child.

Let Them Choose

Even when reading online, let your child pick a book that they find interesting. They might be inclined to pick up a comic book or a graphic novel and that is completely alright. Comic books are helpful because they feel more organized, it is easier for kids to understand the sequence of events and they don’t have to put too much effort into trying to imagine how the characters might look. This means that they can easily concentrate on the words and sentences. Once you become a little more comfortable with reading eBooks, you can introduce other kinds of books to them.

Reread

It is likely that children will reach out for the same book or the same story again and again. After all, familiarity helps them in learning better. Repetition helps in retention and rereading stories will help them in remembering words and their meaning in a much more efficient manner. Each rereading will also help them in understanding the story a little better and the experience might encourage them to read other books and/or stories as well.

Read Aloud

Reading aloud helps your kid in understanding the pronunciation of each word and expanding their vocabulary. They are able to connect the words on the page with particular sounds. Plus, it also helps in forming grammatically correct sentences.

Conclusion

Reading E-books is not much different than reading physical books. It is just a matter of incorporating the habit into your lifestyle. Lastly, make sure to search for American schools that encourage the habit of reading as well.
